Hey, everyone! Thanks for stopping by my website. I guess this is the page where I tell you a little about me.
First off, why Big E? Well, a couple reasons. My name is Erik, so that's one reason. Big E is also one of the nicknames my grandfather had for me growing up. My grandfather is also the reason I started taking pictures. Grandpa Jerry was in the final days of his life when he gave me my first camera. He told me to go take pictures for him. While it took me several years to get going, I've finally had the resources to purchase gear and take a few pictures for people to hopefully enjoy. Grandpa was also an avid photographer.
So those are the reasons behind Big E. Now a little bit about me. I'm the News Director at KOLD/KMSB-TV in Tucson, AZ. I work at a remarkable TV station with a great group of people who are passionate about sharing stories with the people of Southern Arizona. KOLD-TV is where I've called home since April 2017. I previously worked in Spokane, Dallas, Seattle, Phoenix and Lubbock.
I'm a huge sports fan and you'll see some sports in my pictures. I love my alma mater through thick and thin. Unfortunately, it's mostly thin for Washington State University's sports teams, but I bleed crimson and gray. Go Cougs! I'm also loyal to the Seattle Seahawks, Mariners, Cincinnati Reds, Golden State Warriors and Dallas Stars.
I'm not a professional photographer by any means. I'm a self-taught (or Google taught) photographer who likes to pick up a camera in my spare time. I shoot with a Nikon D500. My bag includes a 200-500mm telephoto lens, a 70-300mm, a 55-200mm, a 35mm prime lens and 10-24mm wide angle. I also carry a GoPro 4 Silver (I like the screen on the back, that's why not Black,) and most recently a Mevo Camera for work and streaming to Facebook Live.
I love landscape and sports photography and am always looking for the next event to shoot. If you have any questions or would like me to shoot one of your events, please contact me. My prices are very reasonable. Free! I do this for fun and will only charge if I start feeling like my work reaches a more professional level.
Thanks for stopping by!
